Lyrics and melodies… I love writing songs!  I used to think that my songs would just stay hidden inside my notebook ~ though secretly I hoped that somehow someone might find them one day and bring them to life!  But apparently the good Lord had other plans, and no one is more surprised than me.  Now as my second album releases, I am reminded of where it all began.

I actually grew up loving to write poetry.  Writing a song never even occurred to me!  But from a young age, whenever I felt deeply about anything, penning a poem became my way of journaling.  This continued throughout my life until one day, not many years ago, I sat down and wrote a poem that came out in the form of song lyrics.  I had unintentionally just written my first song!

The melodies, however, took a bit longer in coming.  I experimented with music from all sorts of genres as I learned the art of crafting a song.  But in the end, the music of my soul seemed to find its truest expression in the American Roots style of music.

So here I am today, amazed and so very grateful that some of my songs didn’t have to stay in a notebook ~ because it brings me such joy to share them with you!  Something else that brings me so much joy is the time I get to spend just soaking in God’s wonderful creation all around me.  And life for me can’t get much better than when I have a yummy chai tea latte in my hand and a Bible in my lap.

About Niki Lou

Hailing from Poplarville, MS, Niki Lou Savich has taken a circuitous route that led her to an unexpected destination–making music in Nashville, TN. This poet-turned-songwriter has mapped a colorful course of places lived and experiences gained, providing a lifetime of inspiration for the rich lyricism she weaves into her roots-style melodies. While her background spans professions as diverse as modeling and natural therapeutics, it was Niki Lou's deeply personal journey as a caregiver to her elder family members that became the catalyst for sharing her songwriting with the world.

On her debut album, Million Tears (October 11, 2024), Niki Lou pours out her heart and soul, reflecting on her experience walking loved ones through the final stages of life. Blending the emotional depth of bluegrass, Appalachian, Americana, gospel, and folk traditions, the album features twelve original songs–two co-written with John Chisum, founder and president of Nashville Christian Songwriters. Through Chisum's longtime connection with the Nashville music scene, Niki Lou was introduced to the legendary Gordon Mote, who produced and arranged the album while also performing alongside some of Nashville's finest musicians.

Now, Niki Lou has completed work on her sophomore album, once again collaborating with Gordon Mote. My Offering continues her deeply honest storytelling and her signature sound, which resonates with listeners across generations.
