SOME PLACE
O my heart is hurting because of what was
My eyes cry a river for loss of my Love
Don’t want to remember, my soul needs relief
So I’ll think of some place with no sighing nor grief
I would like to confess something to you. After all of the ‘Reflections’ that I have been writing concerning ‘grief’ over the past sixteen months, it is getting very difficult for me to think of anything more that I’d like to say on the subject. Continual sorrow desperately calls for a mental-emotional break at times. And that is exactly what this song is about.
I once had a dream in which I was feeling very distressed and disheartened about something that I had been trying so hard to accomplish… but in the end, just couldn’t get done. At the point when I was waking up from this dream, I heard the Lord singing all around me these three words, over and over, “Peace and perspective”. And that’s exactly what I needed to hear in that moment!
I absolutely love this dream, and the Dream Giver, reminding me of Zephaniah 3:17 ~
“The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”
The Mighty One, my loving Lord God, is in my midst… knowing everything that I am going through, knowing everything that I am feeling ~ even in my dreams! Oh, how I long to hear His voice singing over me the exact words that my soul needs to hear when I just can’t take this place, or this grief, anymore!
O take my hand, Father, Your arms all around
And hold me close to you till I hear the sound
Of You telling me of a home far away
Where You’ll take me Some Place to be with You some day
In John 14:1-3, Jesus says, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
And my heart responds,
O take me some place beyond the blue skies
Where laughter is pure and love never dies
Sorrow and suff’ring and pain flee away
O Lord, take me to that Some Place some day
